私は小学生の時から様々な歴史物語が好きで、地元が愛知だったこともあり、信長、秀吉、家康、それ以外にも、毛利家、島津家、黒田家等など多くの戦国時代を生き抜いた才人の物語を読んでまいりました。
その中で今回初めて「羽柴秀長」と「竹中半兵衛」を主軸に置いた物語に出会いました。
私は子供の時から才人にあこがれ、中国の三国時代や日本の戦国時代の中で格好良い生き様を見せる謀臣や軍師たちの魅せる多くのドラマに感銘を受けながら成長してまいりました。
社会へ出て会社勤めや結婚して大人となり、生活が大きく変化する中、近年素晴らしい歴史物語に触れる機会がなくなっておりました。
今回作者様のお陰でこの作品に出合い、懐かしさとともに大変大きな感動を味わうことができました。
正直なところ、今まで気にとめることなく、ただの凡人として見ていた羽柴秀長という人物を初めて深く知り、その得難い才能を知るとともに、作中で語られる通り、清廉な水を彷彿とさせる半兵衛像は強く心に焼き付けることとなりました。
